The fire-damaged building is visible from the sidewalk where it may have melted and burned as early as Tuesday morning.

In early Tuesday morning, an employee told the San Felipe police that the building was engulfed by flames and the building's roof collapsed. The building was evacuated but is not being rebuilt.

"It's one of those things that can happen for a while when there's a big spill or it's not enough," said Officer Michael Mora.

It was not immediately clear if the fire was related to the two fires that erupted over the weekend.

Neighbors told the San Felipe Times the fire started about 11:30 a.m. Saturday when the Santa Monica Fire Department opened an investigation on fire in the 12200 block of Palacio Del Norte Avenue, according to a statement from fire officials. The fire was "contained by the fire management office" and firefighters are looking into "any other reports," according to the statement.

The building is just a few blocks west of the city's international airport and has since been a gathering spot for students and retirees, as well as for people who live nearby, Santa Monica Fire Chief Daniel Bieseke said.

But that doesn't mean Santa Monica firefighters won't still be able take on fires across the country.

"We will just try and help those who have been impacted by those fires. We're going to help
